Highlights of Summer 2008

We took the kids back to our old stomping grounds - where Steve and I first met - the 'burg! We walked around the campus to show them the highlights. I think this is a statue of James Blair that they are posing with?! The good news is that Sarah and Abby now both talk about going to William & Mary (Drew is too young to care) - which is great leverage when I am trying to get them to do their homework!!

We also took them down D.O.G. street and walked around the colonial area. Next year we look forward to getting a pass and taking full advantage of the learning opportunities. There is so much to see and do, and lots of walking - the kids tire easily and the heat can be unbearable so we look forward to making lots of little trips next year.

For one week this summer we were officially homeless, and spent the time visiting with DD and Pops. DD had planned some special activities to keep the kids occupied. We got to visit one of her friends that had a farm with some goats, and another with a horse farm. Good country fun!

We also took a trip to the Air and Space Museum. We saw lots of planes, rockets, and helicoptors (like Daddy used to fly!).

And then back to the 'burg - Busch Gardens and The Jamestown Settlement - we highly recommend both of these! The kids enjoyed learning that their mom worked at the tea cup ride one summer! And Drew loved the Roman Rapids because he got soaked - we were all grateful he thought it was fun and did not cry! He has even been asking to go back there for that ride. You just never know how kids will react! There are lots of hands on activities for the kids at the Jamestown Settlement. We had a great time!

Our summer concluded with a move into our new home in VA. With only 2 weeks before school started the moving company arrived and carried all our belongings into our new home. Our new home is nice, but the view from the back of the house is even nicer... More later on fishing, canoeing, and feeding the geese out our back door!

The very last weekend of summer our good friends from PA came to visit to celebrate their daughters birthday with us at the beach! There were still lots of boxes all around, but it didn't matter - we had a great time!!
